LIU Fuyun
Liu Fuyun was born in Jiangxi, China, in 1991. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2014. Currently a professional artist, he lives and works in Beijing.
Encounter at Xiema Bridge exemplifies Liu’s poetic reconstruction of everyday landscapes. Through flat color blocks and fluid, expressive lines, the artist crafts a scene imbued with primitive charm: a silent meeting between man and horse in a corner of a village, forming a gentle and rhythmic narrative.
In terms of formal expression, the artist breaks free from the constraints of traditional perspective, simplifying architecture, flowing water, and flora into a decorative geometric order. A subtle, muted color palette—characterized by soft gray undertones—endows the frame with a serene, dreamlike sense of time, as if the “encounter” is unfolding from the depths of memory. Beyond a mere depiction of a specific locale, the work utilizes this non-documentary visual language to explore the harmonious coexistence and spiritual resonance between the individual and the natural field.
