LIU Yongkang
Liu Yongkang was born in 1985. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2008. He currently lives and works in Beijing as a professional artist.
Faint Light, Soul in Flight epitomizes Liu construction of a “spiritual virtual space.” Utilizing a medium of oil, pastels, and grit, the artist establishes a folded order on the canvas—a realm suspended between natural landscapes and geometric design—achieved through the meticulous stacking and interweaving of multiple layers.
Within the composition, recurring triangular motifs and a central arching bridge coalesce to form a visual conduit to a parallel world. The presence of a serene lunar disc set against a fluid, cool-toned backdrop evokes an atmosphere of balanced, meditative speculation. Through this de-reified symbolic expression, the artist intends for the viewer’s gaze to dissolve worldly anxieties, transforming the work into a contemporary “spiritual temple” that soothes the boundaries of the flesh and awakens latent spiritual energy.
