WANG Hairui

Wang Hairui was born in 1995. He is currently a Master’s student at the Oil Painting Department of the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts.

Wang employs the tempera technique as his medium, translating its quiet, delicate, and jade-like texture into an “introspective” expression of the contemporary individual’s spiritual world. In the works The Room of Vast Expanse and Above the Silent Snow, the artist centers his imagery on figures with their backs turned to the viewer. By neutralizing the narrative of facial expressions, he conveys the relaxation and detachment of solitude through bodily posture alone.

The compositions integrate mundane yet psychologically metaphorical realms – such as the wilderness outside a window or a silent snowfield – to construct a “private space” insulated from external clamor. This fusion of traditional media and contemporary emotion serves as an allegory for the modern yearning for self-spiritual harmony in a fast-paced life. Beyond showcasing the refinement of classical techniques, these works evoke a deep, restrained, and inward-curving aesthetic of speculation within their silent visual frames.
