Sun Man, Professor and Master’s Supervisor at Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts (XAFA).

She was admitted to the Affiliated High School of XAFA in 1983, graduated from the Oil Painting Department of XAFA with a master’s degree in 1994, completed the advanced program in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 2003, and earned her doctoral degree from XAFA in 2013.

The Glade continues Professor Sun Man’s exploration of painting that shifts between figuration and expression. The human figure in the work is intentionally softened, blending into the surrounding woodland landscape to present an ambiguous state between reality and perception. Through fluid forms, layered color fields, and a flowing sense of light, the artist guides the viewer toward a decentralized, non-subject-focused experience, transforming the picture plane into an intermediate space that carries both spiritual wandering and existential sensation. The work reflects her ongoing concern with life experience and the mystery of the world within her “non-categorical” pictorial language.
